FEAST #3: MAGE

Magic expresses itself in this world through many forms. By its very nature it defies logic, expectation, and categorization. A loose catalogue of varying spells and some operative traits do not constitute the whole of the magical realm. That's where MAGE steps in. Our collective pushes beyond the boundaries of nations and factions, forward into new worlds of potential. Analyzing tomes, artifacts, and histories, Our goal is to find new ways to harness the numerous mystical, supernatural, and spiritual energies that both FIST and CYCLOPS are content to simply lump together as "MAGIC". In this manual, we elaborate on a specific branch of casting, known as "Incantations".

MAGE is the third installment of the FEAST series of unofficial trifold supplements for FIST by CLAYMORE RPGs, inspired by the RATIONS series. 

MAGE supplements, not replaces, the existing magic in FIST with a new system by which random words from a dictionary become the building blocks of powerful incantations. This supplement is mostly an exercise to catalyze many different ideas and inspirations into one thing, disguised as a FIST expansion.  What was once conceptualized as "three optional magic systems in one trifold" has now become "multiple optional magic systems in ??? trifolds" as each idea grew out of my control. Whether you choose to use everything or just part of it, I hope that everyone can find something here that they can inject into their FIST games for added fun. 

THIS MANUAL INCLUDES:

• BRAND NEW INCANTATIONS SYSTEM: Incantations are a new way to create magical effects that does not overlap with Traits or Spells. (any operative may make use of them or ignore them) Combine Words of Power (from a dictionary or random generator) in a certain order to create incantations, with effects based on the meaning of the created phrase. If an operative exceeds their MANA with their amount of words invoked, they suffer BURNOUT from the overload of magical energies in their body. This can lead to injury, death, or even something worse... 

• 6 CURSES TO PUNISH ENCHANTERS WHO TALK TOO MUCH: CURSEs are wholly negative effects gained under special conditions. When any CURSE is given to you, you may choose to keep it, replacing one of your traits, or you may pass it off to a team member, who may make the same choice. But be careful, If someone tries to pass the CURSE and every teammate has already had it, the CURSE passes to a random teammate and cannot be passed again. Will you become a Moonsick wolf? A bloodthirsty Nosferatu? It's up to the dice to decide...

• 6 DIVINE HUNTS and 6 MAGICAL TARGETS: Curses need to be broken, Mana Crystals need to be collected, and that means that any operative who wants to cast these incantations will run up against these magically-influenced encounters. Watch out for Swarms of Sleepwalking Dream-Crabs, don't get blown up by a rogue wizard's fireball or burned by a demon's hellfire, and keep your intentions pure of heart if you spot the rare and beautiful Unicorn.
